This is where the magic happens. The plans are set, the materials are chosen, and now we’re on to installation and finishing — the final phase that transforms your kitchen from a vision into a real, functional, beautiful space.
Installation: Trust the Process
Installation can be the most stressful part for homeowners, but it’s also the most exciting. A good contractor or installer is worth their weight in gold. From cabinet leveling to countertop fitting, precision is everything. As your designer, I’m there every step of the way — answering questions, ensuring everything aligns with the vision, and making on-the-fly decisions if surprises pop up (and trust me, they usually do).
Fixtures: The Jewelry of the Kitchen
Once cabinets and counters are in, it’s time for plumbing fixtures and hardware, which I often refer to as the “jewelry” of the kitchen. This is your chance to show some personality!
Faucets: Matte black for modern drama, polished nickel for timeless elegance, or brushed brass for a little warmth and trendiness.
Hardware: Don’t be afraid to mix finishes! Just be intentional. I often pair brushed brass pulls with matte black knobs for a layered, custom look.
Lighting: The Mood-Setter
Lighting is often overlooked, but it can completely transform how your kitchen feels. I use a mix of:
Ambient lighting (usually recessed ceiling lights)
Task lighting (under-cabinet LED strips for prep areas)
Statement lighting (like pendants over an island)
Choose fixtures that complement your cabinet hardware or faucet to create visual cohesion without everything being too matchy-matchy.
Final Styling Touches
The last layer is the softest: a beautiful runner rug, a few well-placed plants or bowls, a piece of art. These personal elements soften all the hard surfaces and make the kitchen feel like home.
