Function Meets Style – Pantry & Laundry Room Design

The pantry and laundry may be behind-the-scenes spaces, but that doesn’t mean they should be any less beautiful or thoughtfully designed. In this lake house, both rooms are getting a full design treatment to maximize style and efficiency.

Let’s start with the pantry. It’s oversized and will feature lower cabinetry with granite countertops, giving the homeowners plenty of storage and prep space. One of my favorite features here is the custom contemporary barn door—a statement piece that’s both practical and chic. It’s a great way to add personality while keeping the area easily accessible.

For both the pantry and the laundry room, we’re going with brick veneer flooring laid in a herringbone pattern. This adds a charming, textural touch that feels right at home in a lakeside property. It’s durable, beautiful, and slightly unexpected—everything I love in a hard-working space.

Whether folding laundry or grabbing ingredients for dinner, these rooms will bring a little joy to the everyday routines.
