Now that your design is finalized, it’s time to turn it from paper into reality. In my last post, we discussed how we develop the overall design concept. This week, I’ll walk you through the exciting process of executing those plans and the steps involved in transforming your space into something spectacular.
Phase 1: Sourcing and Purchasing
Once we’ve finalized the design plan, the first thing I do is start sourcing all the items we need for the space — from furniture to accessories, to fabrics and finishes. It’s like curating a collection, where every piece must be functional, aesthetically pleasing, and, most importantly, aligned with the overall design vision. I’ll shop for furniture and décor, order custom pieces, and liaise with trusted vendors to make sure everything arrives on time.
Phase 2: Space Preparation
Before any furniture or décor touches the floor, preparation is key. This includes cleaning, painting, and ensuring that all structural work (such as wall installations or lighting) is complete. For example, if we’re installing wallpaper, custom shelves, or new lighting fixtures, I’ll schedule all those tasks so that the space is ready for its new furnishings. This phase ensures that everything is in place before your items start arriving.
Phase 3: Installation and Styling
This is where everything starts coming together! The furniture is delivered, and the accessories are placed carefully to achieve balance and functionality. The curtains are hung, the rugs rolled out, and the artwork is carefully positioned to create the right ambiance.
Styling your space doesn’t just mean placing things; it’s about creating a feeling. Each item should contribute to the story we’ve set out to tell. Whether it’s a serene bedroom or a vibrant living room, the final touch is making sure the space feels cohesive and personalized.
Stay tuned for our final blog post next week, where we’ll discuss how to maintain and care for your newly designed space to keep it looking fresh for years to come!
