There's nothing quite like the excitement of starting a new build project—especially when it's a lake house. I’m thrilled to be working with a wonderful client on a beautiful property with so much potential for both function and aesthetics. The plans have been finalized, the layout is just right, and now the real fun begins: interior design.
When I begin designing a home from the ground up, my first step—after carefully reviewing architectural plans and making any necessary layout tweaks with the client—is deciding where to start. With a full home like this, I always choose a space that sets the tone for the rest of the design. For me, that’s typically the great room, followed closely by the kitchen, pantry, and dining area.
Once the heart of the home is in place, I move into the primary suite, which often becomes a serene escape for the homeowners. After that, I work my way through the additional bedrooms and finish with the lower level, ensuring it's every bit as thoughtful and cohesive as the main floor.
Stay tuned as I walk you through each space in this new build lake house. First up: the Great Room—an airy, welcoming space full of natural light and lake views.
